Job Description



POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for managing the flow of information for Stream’s tax return process at both the state and federal levels. This includes both Stream corporate entities and owned property entities. The role assists the Tax Manager with various tax and accounting tasks throughout the month. The goal of this position is to ensure accurate and timely completion of tax returns.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Work with outside tax preparer to ensure Stream is in compliance with changing IRS standards.
  • Answer questions and assist with tax return reviews.
  • Review new entity agreements for entity structure, TMP, and other items.
  • Obtain and review partnership agreements (new entities, amendments, transfer of interest, etc.) for tax impact and compliance.
  • Monitor status of tax return reviews to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Review federal, state and local tax returns and make state/federal return payments.
  • Confirm when sold entities can be dissolved, complete the dissolution process, and maintain accurate records for all filings.

  • Keep updated with tax regulations, industry developments, and best practices.
  • Serve as one of the key points of contact for partners’ K-1 related inquiries.
  • Collaborate with the internal teams to analyze tax implications on business transactions.
  • Support tax planning initiatives to optimize company tax positions
  • Other projects and tasks as requested to support our tax team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • CPA or eligible with 2 parts passed 
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with partnership tax returns
  • Knowledge of GAAP
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Yardi or Workday software experience is a plus
  • Ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality and high attention to detail
  • Commercial real estate experience is a plus
