Role Summary

Rivian's Network Operation Center (NOC) is responsible for remotely maintaining Rivian's charging network. We are looking for a Network Operations Center Senior Applications Engineer who will work cross-functionally to scale the NOC's capabilities while assisting on day-to-day responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support network operations of Rivian's deployed charging assets.
  • Represent the NOC and field service teams and work cross-functionally with product, software engineering, and interoperability teams to define operational requirements, improve in-field asset performance, and enhance cloud platform capabilities.
  • Engage with product and software teams to improve firmware testing, rollout, and feedback process.
  • Use keen attention to detail to document issues and drive alignment across cross-functional teams using various tools and systems.
  • Assist NOC specialists and engineers in day-to-day operations by acting as an escalation resource and providing expertise.
  • Act as the main point of contact between the NOC/field service teams and the embedded software, cloud software, and interoperability engineering teams for escalated field issues.
  • Analyze charging session data, diagnostic logs, fault codes, and other data to assess and diagnose root causes of issues.
  • Support commissioning of new assets; configuring asset properties via Linux and other internal software applications, as needed.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Network Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ year(s) of related experience
  • Experience using case/work order management tools (e.g., Salesforce, JIRA, ZenDesk, ServiceNow, etc.)
  • Understanding of charging standards and protocols: OCPP, ISO 15118, J1772, CCS, NACS, etc.
  • Understanding of above standards and protocols in regards to interoperability between different charging systems and EVs (make/models).
  • Understanding of DC fast charging systems, high voltage and low voltage systems, and systems controls; experience in electric infrastructure a plus.
  • Deep cellular networking knowledge as it relates to charging systems and their features and functionality
  • Proficient in Linux
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Team player mentality, with a willingness to assist others on the team and cross-functional partners
  • Proven track record of successful problem-solving skills with a strong sense of ownership and urgency
  • Required to communicate using telephone, email, and other digital means of communication
  • Ability to view, read, and interpret documents including operating and maintenance instructions, safety guidelines, etc.
